 Pick n Pay Mokolodi Scorpion MTB challenge is billed for September 18.

It would include a 11km trail and 5km fun run. 

According to Gaborone cycling club chairman, Seamus O'Neill,  inclusion of the trail run was merely for those who did not own any bicycles or who wished to do something apart from cycling.

This, O'Neill said, would provide a different feel to the event especially that running would be done in the bush as compared to road. He said this would be an opportunity for those who wished to take part in the event to be included.

He pointed out that this was same with the triathlon races in which bikers had to run, cycle and swim however this will be different because one would have to choose to do just one at a time.

He also mentioned that for those who will win the 11km trail race will be presented with prize money.

Furthermore O'Neill said they anticipating the same numbers of participants to show up for the event.

“Last year we had about 220 people, although since the addition to the trail race we anticipating a growth,” he said.

For her part, Kealogile Moagae of Pick N Pay said they were proud to be part of the race.

She said sports and games activity created a good mental and physical growth and development.  

She explained that  cycling bring a lot of positive opportunities for Pick N Pay hence emphasizing the importance of their relationship with Gaborone cycling club.

With regard to the race Moagae said last year's edition was a great success therefore the need to keep the momentum going with this year's event.ENDS
