Balete celebrate culture
08 Sep 2016
Balete will on Saturday celebrate their culture day known as Barwa Kgodumo Cultural day, Arts and Music Festival.
The event, which will be held at Ramotswa showground, comes two weeks after the graduation of 112 male regiments from Bogwera initiation school on August 27.
It will be the first time that Barwa Kgodumo Cultural day, Arts and Music Festival is held separately from initiation schools graduation ceremonies.
In an interview recently, Balete deputy chief, Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi said the event which starts in the morning, will be a taste of Balete culture.
He said unlike in the previous years, they have decided to separate the Bogwera graduation day and culture day.
Kgosi Mokgosi said they have realised that regiments overshadow the culture day activities as people tend to focus more on them.
Therefore, there was need for Balete to have a platform to showcase their cultural aspect apart from Bogwera and Bojale.
Other than cultural exhibits, there will be music festivities comprising mostly of artists who hail from GaMalete as well as traditional games.
In this year’s event, those wishing to attend culture day will have to part with P25 for children, P50 for adults’ and P150 for VIP.
Furthermore, Kgosi Mokgosi encouraged those aspiring to attend the event to buy tickets on time adding that tickets prices will be increased on the event day. ENDS
