Sankoyo Bush Bucks management has been called to exercise accountability and do things in a transparent manner in order to take the club to greater heights.
The call was made by supporters during a meeting organised by management to brief them about the developments at the team.
They said it was disturbing the way the club wasrun as most of the time they learn about club’s issues through the media.
They said if things were done in a transparent manner, it would be easy to attract sponsors and more supporters.
Some supporters questioned the capability of the management on how to run the club.
They pointed out that they do not know some executive members and emphasised the need to know the profiles of all the members including their roles.
They further asked the benefits of the executive committee and stated that it is important for the management show dedication, commitment and also to be put the team’s interest first.
“We don’t want people who are eager to benefit or put their interest first but we want dedicated members who were willing to transform the image of the club and bring positive results,” said one of the supporters.
Supporters also called for an annual general meeting, noting that time has come for them to elect executive members of their choice.
They complained that since the team got promoted to the elite league, they had never held an AGM.
Earlier on, the team marketing manager, Phemelo Saleshando briefed supporters that the team was still struggling to attract sponsors because they had no registered supporters.
All the potential supporters approached, he said they wanted to know the number of registered supporters.
Thus, he stressed the importance of registering.
He explained that the team had a number of unregistered supporters.
“Sponsors speak volumes and we need your participation to secure sponsorship and grow this club,” he added.
However, the vice chairperson of supporter’s committee, Sekai Morotsi presented a proposed draft on how a membership should look like. In the draft it was stated that registration fee be P50 with a monthly payment of P20.
The supporters approved the draf.
Regarding the issue of the meeting, the vice chairman, Obusitswe John concurred with supporters, saying it was time to call the meeting.
He assured the gathering that they would take up the issue with the trust management where they report to.
He also called for unity and cooperation in order for them to run the club smoothly adding that their support and advices were paramount.
John also noted that efforts were being made to come up with news strategies to raised funds for the club.
He said for the past seasons, the team had been relying on gate takings and grants from the premier league office. The vice chairman also welcomed the issue of executive members’ profile and informed the gathering that there was no chance of financial embezzlement as they exercise accountability.
But the treasurer, Sipho Ndaba explained that there would not be able to call an elective meeting because the club had no registered members as per the club’s constitution.
He explained that the constitution states that only fully registered members could elect. Ends
