The senior national team-Zebras will on Sunday face the Stallions of Burkina Faso in an AFCON group D qualifiers game to be played at Stade du 4 Août, Ouagadougou.
Zebras is currently seating on position three in group D log standing. Having played five games, they managed to win two and lost three, accumulating six points in the process.
At the summit of the group is Uganda and Burkina Faso with 10 points each. Therefore, the game between Botswana and the Burkinabe’s is going to be a very difficult one, given that it will be now or never for the Stallions.
They should be weary of the Zebras, given that they have nothing to lose, and should Butler use a youthful squad, the Stallions would be in for a big trouble.
The youthful will without doubt want to prove to the coach that they are equally capable of spoiling the host party and cement their stay in the national team.
However Zebras coach Peter Butler is well aware that even a win against the Stallions will not turn the fortunes for his charges. He however vowed that his team would not just give their opponents a qualification on a silver platter.
Butler said in interview that despite not having an international friendly, they have been preparing very well and they will fight until the last whistle in Ouagadougou.
The coach said he will not be travelling with Mogakolodi Ngele who is still nursing an injury while Kabelo Seakanyeng has lost his brother. He said Ofentse Nato,
Segolame Boy as well as Olenkantse Mambo will also not be travelling because of various reasons.
He said he would give young players a chance to face the Stallions, adding that he was confident that they would put up a gallant fight against Burkina Faso.
“I believe in giving young players a chance. I did that during COSAFA competition and I am confident they will bring good result,” he said
Zebras captain Joel Mogorosi who scored a solo goal against Burkina Faso in their home game said morale is high in camp, adding they were not under pressure, and they are just going to enjoy their game.
“Burkina Faso should not think that we will give away the game. We are going there to fight for our country. If they blink we will spoil the party for them,” he said.
Players who travelled with the team are: Mwampule Masule, Kabelo Dambe, Mosimanegape Robert,Tebogo Sosome,MoshaGaolaolwe,Hendrick Moyo,Keolopile Molemi,Gogontle Marumo,Lemogang Maswena,Lesenya Ramoraka, Onkabetse Makgantai,Bogosi Kaekwe,Lebogang Ditsele,Joel Mogorosi, Thato Kebue,Lemponye Tshireletso,Boitumelo Mafoko, Tapiwa Gadibolae,Thabang Sesinyi and Lesego Galenamotlhale.
