Team Botswana comes to Ftown

The chief executive officer of Botswana National Olympics Committee (BNOC), Tuelo Serufho has called on Batswana to continue supporting athletes who represent the country at the different games.
Speaking during a dinner organised for the just ended Rio Olympics athletes in Francistown, Serufho applauded the Francistowners for the support they rendered the sportspeople during the games.
He noted that Francistowners were among the people who supported the athletes through various platforms such as social media and it was noted the city commands a huge fan base.
He called on all stakeholders to continue supporting sport in the country saying nowadays through sport a player could make a living. Serufho said everybody should continuously look for ways in which sport in the country can be encouraged and developed.
In an interview with BOPA, the 400m runner Karabo Sibanda said although he did not get a medal he is impressed about his improved performance. He said he will work tirelessly to achieve even greater next time.
The chairperson of Francistown BOT50 Local Organising Committee (LOC), Keabetswe Bogatsu encouraged the team to continue persevering in sports. He said even though the team did not bring any medals they are winners as they represented the country.
The team also visited and greeted people in all wards and some schools in Francistown as a way of appreciating the support it got from the city. ENDS
