Batshu urges women to intensify marketing efforts

Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Mr Edwin Batshu, has urged women in the northern region to intensify efforts in marketing their products.

Officially opening the fourth northern women's exposition and prize giving ceremony in Francistown on Friday, Mr Batshu said  government  had taken deliberate action to empower citizens through, amongst other things, the Economic diversification Drive (EDD).

Mr Batshu appreciated women leaders such as Francistown mayor, Ms Silvia Muzila and the North East District Council chairperson, Ms Florah Mpetsane.

He said there was positive development in as far as women empowered was concerned.

He said women were in leadership positions in other sectors of the economy such as mining, tourism, trade and transport.

Mr Batshu stated that government had channelled significant resources for empowerment of women into the trade sphere.

He also said the expo grew from 70 exhibitors nationally to 350.

He encouraged women to learn to negotiate market pricing.

For her part, Ms Muzila said collaborating with the government on the initiatives would assist women to improve their lives.

Ms Muzila also appreciated women’s hard work in their business as well as support from the ministry, Orange Botswana and Morongwa. ENDS
