28 Aug 2016

The executive director of Shared Services of Botswana Ivestment & Trade Center (BITC) Ms Emeldah Phokoletso says Francistown has  a lot of activities that can attract investors to the city.

Speaking during  a business forum  in Francistown  recently,   Ms Phokoletso explained that it had a lot of potential marketing in infrastructure, agriculture, health and education.

She explained that her office assisted all traders wishing to move or merchandise across the borders of Botswana.

She added that they promote and facilitate businesses in different markets globally.

Addressing the forum Mr Phia Moabi, the  Manager of Botswana Trade Portal said there is no authoritative reference  for the traders that guides  and support traders on what procedures to follow when exporting and importing, hence the introduction of Botswana trade portal.

Mr Moabi said the aim of the Portal was to provide all trade regulatory information easily and readily available to all traders.

Furthermore he said the portal gave traders a platform to access the market within the country and globally noting that they also helped traders to network with possible investors across the boarders.

A representative of Bureau Veritas in Zimbabwe Mr Tendai Malunga said traders should make sure that their goods should match description in the import and export forms as they are traders selling counterfeit products.

Mr Malunga encouraged traders that they should manufacture quality products that could  meet the international standards that can be able to access the markets across the globe. ENDS
