Council to implement 192 Ipelegeng projects

Mahalapye Sub - district Council will implement 192 ipelegeng projects for the 2016/17 financial year, says Ipelegeng programme coordinator Mr Eric Sephetsolo.
Briefing the on-going Sub -district council meeting on August 22, Mr Sephetsolo said there were also 25 carry overs of which 14 were minor while 11 were deferred phase 2 major projects. He said this brought to 206 implementable projects for the 2016/17 excluding deferred major ones. He explained that from the afore mentioned 2016/17 projects, 20 were for constructions completion, five maintenance and renovations, 159 were labour based and these included desiliting, sweeping of roads and debushing of public institutions and eight drift fences completion.
Mr Sephetsolo explained that there were 20 construction projects, two had not started, another two were between 1-25 per cent, five between 51-75 per cent, eight between 76-99 per cent and three were complete. He said of the five maintenance projects, all had started and progressing well, one was between 1-25 per cent, one between 51-75 per cent, two between 76-99 per cent while only one was complete.
Further, he said all labour intensive projects were underway progressing at 40 per cent, noting that debushing, desiliting and litter picking all started on April 2016.
He said desiliting of dams was yet to start due to dams being still water logged. He said eight drift fences were also completed.
On the 2015/16 carry over project implementation status, Mr Sephetsolo noted that there were 14 incomplete projects comprising of four constructions, eight maintenance and two involving stone pitching and paving.
He said of the construction three were complete while one was between 76-99 per cent.
There are eight maintenance of which one was between 51-76 per cent, three between 76-99 per cent, while two have been completed. He said on the stone pitching and paving projects funds had been exhausted. Mr Sephetsolo said for all the 192 planned projects a cumulative of 13 874 beneficiaries would be employed from all four constituencies. Of this number, they are 10 026 were females and 3 821 males. The youth account for 2 989 with 1 910 females and 1 079 males respectively.
On the ipelegeng vehicle status, he said the programme's fleet had been increased by one small vehicle, a double cab though the old fleet continues to be on and off road due to frequent breakdowns. Ends
