BoBA selects national team

Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) held the national championships in Ghanzi over the weekend.
In an interview, BoBA public relations officer, Kenny Maragana, said the tournament was also a preparatory measure for the Africa Union Sport Council Region 5 (AUSCR 5) billed for Angola in December.
Maragana said the tournament assisted the association to select a national team to participate in AUSCR 5.
He said they needed at least eight boxers.
He explained that such tournaments were also used for development and talent identification.
Maragana said referees and judges also got exposure.
Twelve clubs participated in the tournmant, which saw over 66 boxers squarring up in 33 bouts.
He commended the involvement of Ghanzi leadership in this tournament as well as youth activism in boxing.
Out of the 33 bouts, there were there women bouts that were were won by UB. ENDS
