Roads director position still vacant
15 Aug 2016
Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Tshenolo Mabeo has told Parliament that the position of director of Roads Department fell vacant in September 2012 and has been vacant for almost four years and not more than five years.
Responding to MP for Nata/Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga, parliamentary question on August 10, Mr Mabeo said in an effort to fill the position, the ministry has advertised the post several times and even tried head-hunting for a suitable candidate which was all in vain.
Mr Mabeo said the last advertisement for this position closed in May 13 this year and still there was no suitable candidate.
He said his ministry understood the important role that this position played and as such was working tirelessly to identify a person with the right qualifications and experience to fill the position.
Mr Majaga had asked the Minister to state why there has been no substantive Director at the Roads Department for almost 5 years or more and also wanted to know when the position will be filled considering the “very critical role it plays in the economy. ENDS
