Mabutsane as a Sub- district qualifies to have a library, says the Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi.

Answering a question in Parliament on behalf of the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Molefhi said however, provision of the facility has not been possible due to budgetary constraints.

“Mabutsane community currently gets library services from the Village Reading Room (VRR) that was recently upgraded through the efforts of the Mabutsane Village Development Committee,” said Mr Molefhi.

In addition, he noted that VRR offers programmes that are found in public libraries including training members of the public on basic ICT and free access to computers and Internet.

The minister further informed Parliament that the community of Mabutsane Sub -district also has access to the public library in Jwaneng.

Member of Parliament for Jwaneng/Mabutsane, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile had asked the Minister of Youth Sport and Culture if Mabutsane Sub-district does not qualify for a library and also to state when the library would be built. ENDS
