Sebego promises discipline
10 Aug 2016
Botswana Football Association (BFA) presidential candidate, Tebogo Sebego, has asked delegates to elect his team at the association’s annual general assembly on Saturday.
Officially launching his candidacy in Gaborone on Tuesday, Sebego stated that his team comprised people who shared the same vision.
He presented his team, which included Basadi Gakeonyatse as vice president, Tariq Babitseng as second vice president, Suzie Montsho as women representative, and Abel Monnakgotla, Masego Nchingane and Olsen Mantle as ordinary members.
Sebego promised to instil discipline into the National Executive Committee (NEC) if afforded a second chance to lead BFA.
“We will take action to those who will incite any indiscipline comments about football.
This is something that we all agree on.” he said.
Sebego said when he first joined BFA, they wanted to restructure the association and change its political landscape.
He said they wanted to divide regions into four blocks and let every block have its leadership with one seat in the executive committee to correct the political landscape of football.
According to him the blocks system yielded positive results.
He also said they had improved women football.
He also said they intended to commercialise football.
“We formed a company by the name Lekidi Investment which we identified areas that we can make money through.
This company made tickets for the games, it also took advantage of the travelling business,” Sebego said.
However, he said there were serious challenges due to the way the company was operating, which led to them advocating for restructuring of BFA operations in 2014.
Sebego explained they managed to restructure the organisation this year.
“The new structure enables for election of the president and his team and has introduced new positions that will make it easy for BFA to work and deliver its mandate,” he said. Ends
