Rollers Chiefs in title decider
10 Aug 2016
Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs will this afternoon (Thursday) play the long-drawn-out playoff to decide champions of the 2015/16 beMobile Premier League season.
The match kicks-off at 4pm in Molepolole with tickets selling at P40 each.
Botswana Premier League (BPL) disciplinary committee ruled on Monday that the playoff should be staged within 10 days after the original match was abandoned in the first half in Francistown last month.
Chiefs had arrived at the arena with seven players and were left without enough numbers to continue with the match after midfielder Arnold Mampori suffered a head injury.
Rollers were leading 1-0 through a Joel Mogorosi strike.
Magosi had reportedly told BPL that they could not assemble enough players to honour the Francistown match.
Rollers head coach, Mark Harrison, said they would honour the match but complained about how the playoff issue had been handled.
“It is the third time we are being asked to play this playoff. It is not an ideal situation to be in but we have to conform to the league’s request.
We will be there and will play to the best of our ability and see if we can get a good result,” Harrison said.
An attempt to contact Chiefs communications officer Clifford Mogomotsi failed as his mobile phone rung unanswered. Ends
