BISA north zone to reward excellence
10 Aug 2016
Botswana Integral Sports Association (BISA) north zone will host excellence awards in Francistown on October 29.
Addressing a press conference in Francistown on Tuesday, BISA north zone organiser, Modiri Mokobela, said the zone had been performing exceptionally well, putting its mark in secondary schools and attaining position one in all the national finals since 2014.
He said the excellence awards were directed to athletes and coaches who excelled in various sporting codes this year, adding the other reason of awarding athletes and coaches was to enhance the spirit of competition within the zone.
Mokobela said they would be awarding 72 prizes of best male and female athletes and coaches from 12 sporting codes under BISA (athletics, basketball, volleyball, softball, football, rugby, netball, karate, boxing, badminton, tennis and table tennis).
Furthermore, he said nominees from various sporting codes were nominated by the executive committee together with a panel of code coordinators basing on the entire performance of athletes during the entire sporting season of 2016.
He said they have invited former great athletes of this zone who are currently doing their trade in the national team and elite leagues to come and share experiences as well as give motivational speeches to the young and upcoming athletes.
Mr Mokobela appealed for companies to come on board in sponsoring the event, extending his appreciation to those who are already showing their support such as Kay and Lets Film Production Company and Destiny Car Rentals. Ends
