The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mr Eric Molale says some police stations in the country are understaffed.
Answering a question in Parliament on Friday on behalf of Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Molale said although it is desirable to provide adequate resources not only to Botswana Police Service (BPS), but the entire nation there is serious budgetary limitations.
To mitigate the inadequacies, Mr Molale said BPS introduced police posts to lessen work load at major police stations and bring services closer to the community.
He said the introduction of special constables and police volunteers was also meant to complement the number of officers at stations. MP for Francistown West Mr Ignatious Moswaane had asked the minister why Botswana Police was understaffed country wide. ENDS
