07 Aug 2016

The Assistant Minister of Agriculture Mr Kgotla Autlwetse says there are several pans in the Kgalagadi north constituency that capture water during the rainy season.

Mr Autlwetse told Parliament that ministry of Agriculture has developed three of the pans in Lehututu, Tshane and Lekgwabe in 1999/2000 financial year.

The assistant minister further noted that his ministry plans to rehabilitate and expand these water bodies during the 2017/18 financial year.

Mr Autlwetse was responding to Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi North Mr Itumeleng Moipisi who asked if the minister is aware of several water holding bodies in the Kgalagadi North Constituency.

He also asked if he will consider removing silt, compacting and expanding the water bodies to increase the water holding capacity for farmers to water their livestock. ENDS
