Kgalagadi North constituency has tourism potential
07 Aug 2016
The Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism Mr Tshekedi Khama says Kgalagadi North constituency has tourism potential for Kgalagadi especially sand dunes and veld products related activities.
Answering a question in Parliament on Thursday from the Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi North Mr Itumeleng Moipisi, Mr Khama said the Tsabong District Tourism offices services both Kgalagadi South and North constituencies. However, the minister said he was aware that the area of coverage for the two constituencies is large, hence the current office does not adequately serve the two effectively.
Mr Khama further stated that “there are several of such district scenarios in the country which would be considered as and when resources permit. It is against this background, he said, that it will not be possible at this point to consider opening another office in the north.”
MP Moipisi had asked the minister if he will consider opening a department of tourism office in the Kgalagadi North constituency in view of the fact that the area has a high potential for tourism development. ENDS
