No plans to relocate regional wildlife office

07 Aug 2016

There are no plans to relocate the regional wildlife office responsible for Central and North East districts to North East, says  Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism  Mr Tshekedi Khama. Mr Khama told Parliament on Thursday that the arrangement in which the regional coordinator was based in Serowe allowed the officer  to strategically coordinate wildlife conservation and management matters in her areas of jurisdiction. He further said his ministry was aware of the need to service North East more adequately and had opened an office in Masunga to augment the Francistown office. He explained that due to lack of resources, his ministry was not able to strengthen the staff to compliment in the North East. Mr Butale  had asked the minister  as to when the regional coordinator, wildlife and national parks servicing the north east district will relocate from Serowe to the north east to service the district viably.ENDS
