Regional education officer to remain in Francistown
04 Aug 2016
The regional education office coordinator who services North East District covers the two districts of North East and Francistown.
Speaking in Parliament, Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Fidelis Molao said Francistown was chosen to locate the regional education headquarters because of its proximity to most of the institutions, including some of those in the North East District, and the availability of the required office space for staff.
“The Sub-district is served by our office in Masunga which is headed by a chief education officer who reports directly to the director, regional operations in Francistown. This arrangement is consistent with our other operations in Botswana and as such, my ministry has no plans to relocate the officer from Francistown to North East,” he said.
Tati West MP, Mr Biggie Butale had wanted to know when the said officer would relocate from Francistown to the North East District in order to better service the district on the ground as opposed to being hundreds of kilometres away. ENDS
