Govt consulted on project
04 Aug 2016
Prior to the establishment of the Moeti agro-industry project, in Maun West, in 2007, consultations with residents of Xharaxhao settlement were carried out.
This was said by the Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele, when responding to a question in Parliament from Maun West MP, Mr Tawana Moremi.
The project, Mr Maele said resulted in the preparation of plots layout that was subsequently followed by allocations in 2009.
The allocations, he said led to the closure of established roads to Xharaxhao settlement, because ‘those allocated started fencing off their respective plots.’
“Notwithstanding, the layout provided for alternative routes in the form of corridors to create access to the settlement,” he added. ENDS
Mr Moremi had asked Mr Maele why established roads to Xharaxhao had been closed by allocations of fields and what consultations were carried out with the residents who used these roads.
