A satellite office is being established for the department of gender affairs in Mahalapye, Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Mr Edwin Batshu has said.

Mr Batshu, who was responding to a question in Parliament, said on Tuesday that the village had been serviced from the Serowe office because it did not have a gender office.

“Already one temporary women’s economic empowerment officer has been recruited to serve Mahalapye Sub-district. The officer is expected to start work in Mahalapye this month,” the minister said.

He further stated that cabinet had approved the proposed ministry structure that would facilitate effective implementation of its mandate including the gender affairs department.

Mahalapye West MP Mr Joseph Molefe had asked the minister to state when the gender office will be set up in the village. ENDS
