P15 000 not enough for equipment
04 Aug 2016
The Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration says the P15 000 allocated for poverty eradication drive may not be enough to fund some equipment.
Answering a question in Parliament, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele said records showed that most of the packages had adequately been funded saying for packages more than P15 000, beneficiaries were encouraged to work as groups or form trusts and cooperatives, so that they could receive more funding.
He said “this financial year, packages are fully funded to avoid a situation where beneficiaries cannot implement projects because certain components of the package are still missing.”
Member of Parliament for Francistown West Mr Ignatius Moswaane had asked the minister if he was aware that the amount of P15 000 allocated for the poverty eradication drive was not enough to fund most equipment for certain projects and if the minister would consider funding projects according to categories.
