Statistics do not disaggregate

Botswana statistics does not disaggregate population figures according to ethnic or tribal lines.
The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen, said this when responding to a question from Francistown West MP, Mr Ignatius Moswaane on Wednesday. “As a result, I would not have the required details for Basarwa,” said Mr Van Der Westhuizen.
Mr Moswaane had asked Mr Van Der Westhuizen to state how Basarwa would benefit from the Economic Stimulus Programme.
Francistown West MP also asked the minister to state the number of Basarwa who benefited from the Youth Development Fund, Youth Industry, Gender Affairs, Poverty Eradication Programme and Livestock Management and Infrastructure Development and other programmes. ENDS
