Programme planned for 2017
03 Aug 2016
The Borehole Mechanic Course has long been approved to be taught at Macheng Brigade in Lehututu.
This was said by Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Fidelis Molao, when responding to a question in Parliament from Kgalagadi North MP, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi on Tuesday.
The course, Mr Molao said was planned for implementation in 2017. However, he said 'a decision was made under National Development Plan 9 to streamline the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and their programmes, including those offered by the Brigades.
This rationalisation process, Mr Molao said would reduce duplication of programmes offered in institutions that were within close proximity, improve resource utilisation, improve enrollments and allow for the introduction of new and more relevant programmes.
He also said the rationalisation process is due to be complete in October 2016 and will determine which new programmes will be introduced at various institutions. Mr Moipisi had wanted to know if Mr Molao was aware that the Borehole Mechanic Course had long been approved to be taught at Macheng Brigade in Lehututu.
Kgalagadi North MP also wanted to know why was the course not being taught and the envisaged commencement date of the course ENDS
