Spar sponsors coaching clinic
23 May 2013
SPAR Supermarket will sponsor a coaching clinic scheduled to take place at Botswana Netball Association (BONA) courts on May 25.
A press release from BONA, said the association had identified coaching as a glaring area of concern that compromised quality of the netball game. Limited coaching development at a team level, the release said, was further attributed to the challenge the association faced to develop quality coaches at the national level.
“Similarly, the challenge of experienced and developed coaches impacts on the quality of the netball athletes the country can produce,” added the release. It further stated that the My SPAR My Botswana Netball League was a key feeder to the country’s national teams-especially the Under 21 and senior national team.
A quality league would result in quality players with the correct technical and tactical abilities to compete regionally and internationally, stated the release.
The release stated that the coaching clinic, which would be facilitated by international coach, Ms Elize Kotze, from South Africa was anticipated to attract a total of 40 coaches, as it targeted all two coaches per team from the My Spar My Botswana Netball League. ENDS
