BoB encourages localisation

Bank of Botswana continues to implore all licensed commercial banks operating in Botswana to localise senior management position including chief executive officer positions.
Answering a question in Parliament, Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Kenneth Matambo, said the bank monitored progress made by commercial banks and to date significant progress has been noted, particularly for the large banks.
“As at December 31, 2015, commercial banks had a total of 4 495 employees of which only 67 were non-citizen a reduction of from 77 in 2014, the rest of employees were Batswana,” he said.
Member of Parliament, for Nata-Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga had asked the Minister of Finance and Development Planning to brief parliament on the localisation plan for commercial banks in Botswana. ENDS
