Grant Thornton Business Botswana to award private businesses

As a way of developing and promoting the private sector, Grant Thornton, in conjunction with Business Botswana, presented the Private Business Growth Award to private owned businesses.

   Briefing the media in Gaborone recently Grant Thornton’s, Mr Vijay Kalyanaraman said the prestigious business award recognises privately owned business that approach growth from both strategically and holistic perspectives.

He noted that the businesses which would be awarded should have a holistic perspective to create a positive impact and contribute to a strong and vigorous economy.

“The private business growth award is looking for businesses that demonstrate holistic growth and encompass a broad range of activities across their business,” said Mr Kalyanaraman

He highlighted that for businesses to be selected for the award, there would be an evaluation by a panel of judges basing on strategic growth activities such as innovation, market development,  strategic leadership, improvements in financial measures as well as people and culture.

Mr Kalyanaraman stated that two winners would be awarded, each from small to medium enterprise and large enterprise, and that finalists would be celebrated at a gala dinner on October 12 in Gaborone, with two winners receiving the prestigious award accompanied by advisory services from Grant Thornton valuing P25 000.

In his remarks, the CEO of Business Botswana, Mr Racious Moatshe commended the initiative, noting that as the voice of all businesses in the country, it was of paramount importance to continue supporting and partnering with such initiatives geared toward supporting the development of the private sector.
