Suspended Sankoyo leaders speak out

28 Jul 2016

The suspended Sankoyo Bush Bucks public relations officer, Baganetsi Kamanakao, says the club needs an elected committee,   which could protect its status.

He said in order to have a legitimate committee, the team management should hand over the club to the public by holding annual general meetings where supporters could elect competent members to run the club.
He expressed his views in an interview recently.

Kamanakao alleged that the team had never held meetings. He said it was not healthy for the team to always co-opt members for executive committee.

“Supporters should be the ones to decide who should sit in the committee basing on the capability of members as the mandate of the committee is to protect the image of the team and avoid relegation,” he added.
Kamanakao also stated that an elected committee could attract sponsors.

He said the current committee was lucky to be co-opted but they lacked experience to run the club. Regarding his suspension, Kamanako said he had not received a formal letter suspending him.

He alleged that he was told verbally after an argument with management during a meeting where he raised an issue of calling for a general meeting. He dismissed reports that he was called for a hearing noting that since they did not agree on some issues, he was told that he had been suspended.

Another suspended member, Batshidi Moeti, who was the administration manager, said she was surprised to hear that she had been suspended because she was not attending meetings and yet they were never invited to meetings.

She revealed that she was once invited for an emergency meeting, which she did not attend because of other commitments.

Moeti said they used to be invited to meetings when the new members were co-opted but suddenly that stopped. She accused some members within the committee for hosting some secret meetings adding that has divided the committee.

The frustrated Sankoyo die hard said some committee members put their interest first neglecting the welfare of the players. Moeti was the former secretary for the supporter's committee and was co-opted last year to join the executive committee.

“I was shocked to learn that I was inactive and yet I worked for the team since it was promoted to the premier league I even assisted financially on some errands,” she added.
Another member, Ikgomotseng Tameti who was an additional member said he was not aware of his suspension as no body communicated with him.

He said he had never been invited for a meeting.   He expressed disappointment to learn that he had been suspended for being in active, pointing a finger at the current committee .

New team manager, Onalenna Ditlhakanyane recently stated that they suspended six executive members, who were not active. He said the members were neither turning up for meetings nor serving interests of the club

Consequently, Ditlhakanyane said they co-opted new committee members. Ends
