Temporary teachers on contract
26 Jul 2016
Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraele Goya says since the year 2000 teachers in some of the primary schools in the Nata/Gweta constituency were hired on contract and temporary basis.
He said “these contract and temporary teachers have been recruited to cover for classes in the absence of the incumbent due to a number of reasons including, short and long term study leave, unpaid and sick leave and maternity leave.”
He said in some instances temporary teachers were engaged where schools had expanded and the process of creating new posts was still ongoing. Mr Goya emphasised that all contract and temporary teachers who have been employed have teaching qualifications.
The MP for Nata/Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga had asked the minister if he was aware that since the year 2000 some teachers of primary schools in the Nata/Gweta constituency were employed on contract and temporary basis, and if so, when would qualified teachers be posted to such schools. Ends
