Minister admits payment delays
24 Jul 2016
There are delays in the payment of allowances to some of the Tirelo Setshaba participants in rural areas, says Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Mr Edwin Batshu.
Responding to a question in Parliament on behalf of Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Mr Thapelo Olopeng, Minister Batshu said majority of Tirelo Setshaba participants were paid on time.
He said the delays in payment were often a result of some factors that included late confirmation of payments by host organisations, network challenges for participants who were paid through the Mobile Money System or participants absconding from work.
Minister Batshu said in addition to engaging host organisations, the ministry was in the process of instituting payment system that would facilitate an expeditious payment of allowances to mitigate against challenges in question.
MP for Nata/Gweta Mr Polson Majaga had asked the Minister if he is aware that there are serious delays of payments to Tirelo Sechaba participants across the country especially in rural areas. and whether there. Ends
