Youth office operational

19 Jul 2016

Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Thapelo Olopeng has said Takatokwane youth office was not closed but rather the incumbent officer was transferred.
The minister was responding to a question in Parliament on July 14, saying however the officer left behind a national service participant to man the office.
He also explained that the officer based in Kaudwane is on study leave and efforts are being made to identify an interim replacement.
However he said the office has three national service participants both of whom are under supervision of the Letlhakeng office.
Minister Olopeng said that a replacement officer has since assumed duty at the Takatokwane office on July 11 2016.
He also explained that during the time when there were no substantive officers, the ministry identified two programme officers based at Letlhakeng office to service the Kaudwane and Takatokwane areas.
He said therefore no projects in the two areas were adversely affected, and since no projects were adversely affected the question of compensation does not arise.
The minister was responding to a question by Takatokwane MP, Ngaka Ngaka who had asked if minister was aware that all youth offices are closed in the Takatokwane constituency. He asked him to state when they will be opened and to state number of youth projects affected and for those affected if compensation is planned for. ENDS
