Financial constraints hamper stadium building
10 Jul 2016
The development of the Mochudi Stadium was considered alongside other district headquarters during the National Development Plan 8, Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Edwin Batshu has said.
Answering a parliamentary question on behalf of the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Batshu said due to financial constraints some of the proposed projects, including the Mochudi Stadium were set aside, adding that the project would be considered alongside other facilities when the financial situation improves.
He said the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture had not been allocated a land for a stadium in Pilane, although in the past there was an attempt to acquire a piece of land in Pilane from an individual for the purpose of building a stadium, but the negotiations were not successful.
Mochudi East Member of Parliament, Mr Isaac Davids had wanted the minister to brief Parliament on the status of the Mochudi Stadium, and to state if the land allocated for the stadium at Pilane was still available. ENDS
