Monitoring ongoing

10 Jul 2016

The Department of Road Transport and Safety (DRTS) has embarked on a fact finding mission by monitoring the Gaborone/Ramotswa route to ensure that licensed operators fulfill their obligations to commuters.

The Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Nonofo Molefhi said the department called all the concerned operators to sensitise them of their failure to service the route adequately.

Minister Molefhi said all the operators had pledged to service the route as per the conditions of their permits.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenelo Mabeo, Mr Molefhi said all the operators had been warned that if they fail to observe their departure times, especially from the Gaborone side in the evening, appropriate action would be taken against them, including withdrawal and cancellation of permits.

The legislator for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked the minister if he was aware that there were no buses after 8pm that leave Gaborone for Ramotswa, and if anyone had been given that service. ENDS
