Majaga urges students to desist from bad behavior

04 Jul 2016

MP for Nata/Gweta  Mr Polson Majaga has cautioned students at Nxakato in Sowa and Dukwi junior secondary schools to desist from bad behaviour but rather focus on getting educated in order to shape their future.

This he said during the handing over of toiletries and other incentives aimed at motivating teachers and students provided by his office through Majaga Foundation recently at Dukwi.

Mr Majaga noted that many students who are not doing well in their studies are  instead of focusing on their school work, now engaged in other activities which negatively affects their performance. And in most cases, he pointed out these are students who then display intolerable behavior to their teachers who are there to help them succeed in their education.

He called on the students to have a dream of what they aim to achieve in future because having such a dream, they will be able to focus on things which can help them grasp the concept of achieving their dreams.

Furthermore, he pointed out that as the leadership they are making means to help to curb challenges faced by some students from families with poor backgrounds adding that there are some students from places where the parents rely only on government handouts hence they are unable to ensure that on a monthly basis they bring to their children at these boarding facilities toiletries and any other needs.

And it is therefore for these reasons that as the leadership through assistance from other stakeholders who heeded their plea, facilitate such needs to help such students so that they do not feel left out.

Appreciating efforts from their leadership, the school head for Dukwi Mr Victor Mbopi said as a school with intake from many places which are mainly rural they are faced with many challenges amongst them needs for students who are supposed to be covered by parents, some of them are not being able to do so they seek support from their stakeholders to cover such gaps.

Mr Mbopi further noted that with the current situation where there are many shortages for things needed to drive education, it is upon parents as well as stakeholders to collaborate and see to it that there is progress and success in schools. He therefore appealed to their MP to help them find someone or a company which can adopt them. So far, he said despite numerous efforts to get a good Samaritan to adopt them has not been fruitful.

The MP also pledged to give best performers during the prize giving ceremony from Form I to Form III each P500 as a form of motivation . ENDS
