Morama recongises performing teachers

04 Jul 2016

A Jwaneng based business woman Ms Lucy Shokwe has implored teachers to be encouraged in their work because they are the cornerstone of society.

Speaking at Morama Junior Secondary School staff recognition and awards ceremony in Jwaneng recently, Ms Shokwe noted that teaching was a valuable profession since it brought positive changes to society.

She urged teachers to be proud of themselves because they played different roles in a child’s life. “You are a tutor, an enabler, parent, mentor, an educator, a friend, care giver combined and make a huge difference in the children’s lives,” she noted.

She underscored the need to appreciate teachers because it took hard work, determination, love and dedication to perform their duties diligently.

Furthermore, Ms Shokwe implored them to continue with their teamwork and enthusiasm so that their school results could improve.“Be brave and stay passionate about your children, your work, your country and the world.

Also remember teamwork is an important ingredient to success. Your enthusiasm and interest to work towards the success of the school in spite of the challenges have made a huge impact,” she said.

For her part, Morama Junior Secondary School head Ms Mpho Lesego said the main objective of the awards ceremony was to recognise and appreciate the school’s teaching and non-teaching staff for the good work that they do.

She said the event was on its third year after making a commitment in 2014 to recognise outstanding performance amongst employees.“We are heeding the call to recognise the good work by our staff by rewarding it so as to encourage them to produce better results,” she said.

She applauded the school’s Parents Teacher Association (PTA) for its continued support which impacted positively on the school results.

One of the awardees Ms Naniki Mosweu also underscored the need for teamwork, which she said had borne results for their Home Economics/Agriculture subject cluster which dominated the awards.

“There is a lot of support from staff members and this has contributed a lot to the good results. I encourage others to also adopt the same strategy so that collectively we can excel as a school,” she said.

However, she said the awards that she got were challenging her to work even harder to maintain or surpass the current standard.

Nonetheless, she was optimistic to take the challenge head-on with the support from her colleagues. ENDS
