Many await Amantle Montsho’s  return to the track.

The 400m runner was banned for two years after she tested positive for the stimulant methylhexaneamine   at the Commonwealth Games where she finished on position four.

She is expected back on track on August 1.

Her former coach, Anthony Koffi, said in an interview that he was confident Montsho would make a good mark once she returns.

He said Montsho had natural talent, adding that the long rest was not good but rest was necessity for every athlete.

Furthermore, Koffi said the athlete was capable of running very fast and in the event record impressive time.

He said other athletes who were banned were now back and there was no doubt that they were doing well.

Therefore, Montsho would return a hungry woman, therefore she was in a good position to take the world by storm.

Montsho, he said, needed support from all Batswana and relevant stakeholders for her to go back to her glory days.

The coach said should Montsho need his service, he would gladly work with her again, given that they understood each other and one thing he liked about the athlete was that she always followed instructions.

“She is like a daughter to me. She shares the same birthdates with my first son, our relationship was not all about coach and athlete, but father and daughter, “he said.

He said they had been talking all along even after her ban, adding recently Montsho told him that another Botswana 400 metre athlete, Lydia Jele would be travelling to Dakar, and he met the athlete and gave her some tips.

He however said Botswana had rare talent in athletics and he had witnessed that during his time with Montsho. Ends
