Some churches cause discomfort
22 May 2013
Some prominent worshiping houses in Nswazwi have caused discomfort to fellow residents due to alleged loud and cheeky prayers, which are always held in the middle of the night.
Addressing a kgotla meeting recently, Kgosi Batshani Monyatsi said that he has received some shocking reports on numerous occasions that there are some churches that always held evening prayers in the middle of the night, whilst other people are asleep.
He said still with the same churches, it was reported that a chicken was found hanging on to a tree with a string attached to its neck and a needle pierced through its body.
Kgosi Monyatsi said this was linked to a certain church, which is allegedly causing mayhem amongst the residents with its alleged evil practices.
He further said that a lot of them have been mentioned but only one has been at the centre of controversy because of its weird practices.
Kgosi Monyatsi further told residents that prayers should not be held in the middle of the night.
He said if a church wants to conduct its services, it should be in a church building or a homestead, not in front of other peoples yards or even in the river as it is used for various domestic purposes like fetching water. Kgosi Monyatsi told the residents that he will put a stop to all this as this is tearing his village apart.
Commenting on the remarks, a local resident Mr Chawangwa Mmolawa, who disclosed that he has heard some strange noises in the middle of the night next to his house, said to his dismay he heard people praying.
He said the language, which was used was explicit because whatever was said, one could only hear that this is the work of evil. Mr Mmolawa further said that he is totally against these churches holding prayers in the middle of the night in front of other people’s yards.
Efforts to contact one of the leaders of the said churches, which cropped up most of the time during the kgotla meeting proved futile as he was said to be out of the village. ENDS
