Official implores youth to transform capacity

22 May 2013

Production manager of Morupule coal mine, Mr Steffen Nareetsile says the youth should have courage and transform their capacity, as Botswana needs fearless leaders.

Mr Nareetsile said at Junior Achievement Botswana (JAB) Sub Regional Best expose held in Serowe.

He said for youth to improve they should measure themselves against their capabilities, dreams, achievements and failures and should set to achieve what they have not achieved before.

Mr Nareetsile noted that to achieve greatness, a leader has to sacrifice personal comfort and move into uncomfortable space to make unpopular decisions.

He advised the youth to select a person, preferably older, who they believe could represent their dreams and values as a mentor and coach.

On other hand, he encouraged parents to undertake the role of coaching and mentoring the youth to become great leaders.

Mr Nareetsile said it was important for parents and teachers to encourage their children to take more practical based subjects as this would enrich them with industrial skills the same way JAB was doing so that they could tackle today’s world better.

In her welcome remarks, the school head for Swaneneng Hill School, Mrs Gabalape Autlwetse encouraged the youth to further their dreams. ENDS
