The Department of Information Services head of marketing, Ms Kelebogile Jaba says corruption policy has been formulated to sensitise officers on acts of corruption and at the same time acts as a guide to officers.
Ms Jaba said when addressing departments of Information Services and Broadcasting Services Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC) during a one day anti-corruption workshop in Francistownrecently to sensitise the northern region officers on corruption and corruption policy.
She explained that appointment of CPC members was done by the ministry permanent secretary, while at ministry level; the PS was the chairperson for the committee consisting of directors of the ministry departments.
Ms Jaba stated that at department level, directors were the overseers of the committees and responsible for monitoring as well as ensuring that recommendations made through Corruption Risk Activities were implemented.
The committee, she said was supposed to draw a plan which included all their activities and for every activity they should present minutes and original register of the people who attended that particular activity.
She explained that the CPC did not investigate corruption, but made assessments on risk areas so that those sensitised should close the loopholes which could be routes of corruption acts.
Meanwhile, sensitising the officers on declaration of gifts, senior information officer, Mr Kesentse Ketumile advised that a recipient of a gift should always introspect on the intension of the giver.
He advised the attendants to adopt the 3 D’s of Decline, Declare and Disposal, explaining that when a gift turned out to be a bribe, it became corruption. Ends
