Ministry warns motor dealers

19 Jun 2016

The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry says motor dealers are required by law to display prices on products that are displayed for sale for consumer appreciation and informed decision making.

A press release from the ministry states that concerned businesses have until July 31 this year to comply with the requirement failing which they will be penalised in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act and other related statutes.

The release also says that ministry has of late established that there are businesses that display goods for sale with no price indicated on them or on any position visible for the consumer to appreciate.

This practice, it says, is commonly found in the motor industries selling pre-owned vehicles.

It further explains that the price of a commodity is a key form of information that should  be disclosed to customers to help them make informed decisions prior to and during their transactions. ENDS
