16 Jun 2016
Many youth fail to put their talents into good course in order to fight poverty.
However, Mr Thapelo Gobonyweng, managing director of Hisgalus Films in Kanye is making use of every opportunity that comes his way.
Although he is a nurse by profession, that never deterred him from writing scripts and shooting films including short films, full feature films, documentaries and music videos, among others.
His studio: Hisgalus, is a Hebrew word meaning revelation.
Mr Gobonyweng said in an interview that he started as an actor at AV Communications in 2006 where they performed short films for television based on written scripts, adding that was where he developed passion in film writing.
He said being in the film industry was always been his dream emphasising that he worked hard to turn his dream into a reality.
He said it took a lot of dedication, passion and hard work to turn dreams into realities. Incepted in 2013, Hisgalus Films had been succesful in transferring their thoughts on a piece of paper and later turning them into a reality through action or performance.
Mr Gobonyweng said he developed massive courage for script writing after producing a 48 hour film named Brush Strokes and Love Notes for Capitol Cinema in 2014 and scooped position two in the competition for locally produced films.
He said the production was also available on YouTube Channel and it was directed by Pako Moruakgomo and Boikhutso Lefa.
He said were now working on a movie called Delivered, which could have been released December last year but due to budget constraints, they were still struggling with its release.
He was optimistic that soon the movie would hit cinemas and market shelves, emphasising it would be eye catching.
Mr Gobonyweng applauded government for its support to the film industry through the tendering of films, documentaries and television series for broadcasting on national television and radios.
He said such a move is a step in the right direction thus giving Batswana a fair opportunity to expose their talents. ENDS
