Official urges youth to be innovative

Youth in Thamaga have been urged to come up with innovative business ideas rather than recycling those that already exist.
Speaking at the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture;s Youth Development Fund orientation in Thamaga recently, Mogoditshane/Thamaga Sub-district coordinator, Mr Kefentse Phoi, said fresh business ideas that had not been tested before stood a better chance of succeeding and harnessing an untested market.
He stated that the purpose of the orientation was to train the youth about Youth Development Fund (YDF) and how to do business proposals.
He said most youths did not fill the forms accordingly when applying for funding, which sometimes led to them to being rejected.
Mr Phoi advised the youths to always approach his office to seek help when they did not understand some things regarding funding.
“They should also desist from hiring people to help them with business proposals as some of these people are equally in the dark about what is required. The youth are welcome at any time for free assistance. Our office is open for everyone who needs help, whether start-ups or expansion,” he said.
He further stated that sometimes even the already existing businesses failed because of poor management and failure to seek help.
He encouraged the youth to apply for funding, stating that this will help keep them off poverty and instill entrepreneurial sense in them as well. ENDS
