Research important in business
07 Jun 2016
Young people who wish to apply for their businesses to be funded under the Youth Development Fund have been urged to thoroughly research about the businesses they want to venture into.
Speaking during the Youth Development Fund (YDF) orientation held in Metsimotlhabe recently, the programme officer from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture (MYSC) in Mogoditshane-Thamaga Sub District, Mr Duncan Kokorwe said research was vital as it allowed the applicant to know more about their potential business, its products and potential customers among other things.
He said at times young people did not succeed in their business proposals due to lack of sufficient market research.
He said the aspect of research in a business should be taken seriously as it paved way for success.
Mr Kokorwe said young people should not be reluctant but make an effort to research even if it meant benchmarking in other places and countries about the businesses they wished to be funded for.
One of the participants, Ms Nagin Serameng shared the sentiments with Mr Kokorwe and said such orientations would greatly help as they gained knowledge which would help them succeed in processing their applications and understanding more about business.
MYSC officials encouraged young people not to give up when they were sent back to make corrections or provide more information on their potential business proposals and visit MYSC offices in their respective districts. ENDS
