Khama pledges support

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has pledged unceasing support to the national football team, Zebras.

Speaking to the team in Francistown prior to their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) second leg qualifier match with Uganda on Saturday, President Khama said as the patron of the Zebras , he would always support the team whether he attends matches or not.“As a patron of the team, my doors are always open for you to come and share any challenges that you face and I am willing to assist you in any way I can,” he said.

He further told the team that during his walkabouts in the Francistown East constituency on Saturday, he noticed that Batswana were ready to rally behind their team.He said the city was painted blue, black and white; a sign that Batswana owned and supported the team.

Team captain, Joel ‘16v’ Mogorosi thanked President Khama for his continuous support and assured him that they would always perform to their best in all the matches to make the nation proud.Mogorosi said the players did not have much challenges.However, he said that they should be something to take home to their families after their national engagements.
