Dintorokong clinches charity tourney

Dintorokong Shooting football team has clinched the Kopong annual charity tournament in a sparkling football showpiece.

Dintorokong Shooting FC most celebrated achievement comes after striking No Mathata FC 1-0 in the finals at Kopong on Saturday.

The team won a trophy, football kit and medals while the second and third winners received silver and bronze medals respectively as well as football kit each.

The tournament comprised four teams being; No Mathata FC of Kopong, Dintorokong Shooting FC from Mmopane Block 1, Sprint Couriers FC from Gaborone Block 8 and Lister City FC from Kopong.
No Mathata FC was in position two while Lister City was in position 3. However, Sprint Couriers also received a football kit.

Speaking in an interview, the organiser of the tourney, Mr Tshepo Ronkwane said the Kopong annual charity tournament started this year and it will be an annual event where ladies will also be included in the coming tournament slated for 2017.

He said the objective of the tourney was to raise funds to buy winter uniform for the less privileged students at Molefi Primary School in Kopong.
Moreover he said the tournament provided a platform for players to interact and keep fit, network and entertain football fanatics.

This year only male teams participated in the tournament, Mr Ronkwane indicated that women were roped in as support personnel for participating teams.
“We also believe that this tournament presents organisations with a golden opportunity to engage in corporate social responsibility by investing in a youth pioneered project,” he said. Ends
