Trade fair key opens avenues
30 May 2016
Chief judge at the Botswana Business Northern Trade Fair, Mr Dominique Raguin, has advised entrepreneurs to take advantage of the fair to enhance their businesses.
Speaking in an interview at the prize giving dinner held in Francistown recently, Mr Raguin said such a platform should not only be seen as a way to only showcase products.
He said trade fair afforded entrepreneurs opportunities to benchmark, interact and share business related advice as well as seek better markets for their products.
Mr Raguin said most stalls were impressive, adding that indicated Batswana had vital business concepts needing to be nurtured.
He said some aspects they examined included presentation of business concepts, appearance, creativity of end product, among others. Nevertheless, he expressed concern about some exhibitors who failed to meet set standards despite being aware of requirements.
He added that some failed to be present at their stalls while others engaged people who would not clearly explain business concepts.
As such, Mr Raguin advised exhibitors to come up with original and appealing end products. He also urged those who failed to get positions to continue growing their businesses. Meanwhile, awards were based on several categories such as media, hotel and catering management, education, government departments, among others.
Under the education category, the University of Botswana (UB) took position one, while Botswana Education Hub and Botho University finished second and third respectively. Ends
