Mr Savaniah Josaya of Semotswana near Tonota is a carpenter par excellence.
He acquired carpentry skills his uncle.
It is visible from his works that MrJosaya has been doing carpentry for many years.
He specialises in making chairs, dog houses, decorative trays, beds, wardrobes, and chest of drawers, among other things.
He previously lived in Sekoma where he did house ceilings and roofing works before his father encouraged him to return home.
Mr Josaya’s clientele encompassed individuals as well as hotels, guest houses and lodges.
The wooden chairs that he sold ranged from P250 to P650 but the setback, but business was slow because he could not produce as much as he would like to due to insufficient capital to buy materials to make his products and to employ others to help speed production.
To promote his business, Mr Josaya opened a Facebook page and use word of mouth as well as carrying some of his products wherever he went.
“My wish is for my business to grow and create employment for other Batswana and I would like to employ from 20 to 30 people as time goes on so as to expand my business into a complete workshop,” he noted.
He said he had realised that when a business operated in a workshop and was professional, it attracted customers.
Mr Josaya said one should not be excited by money and misusing it, instead they should use it wisely to buy materials so it could flourish. Ends
