Sefhare to host Special Olympics tournament

Sefhare is to host this year’s Special Olympics games scheduled for 24 to 29 June.

Speaking in an interview, the representative of the committee that is preparing for the event, Cecilia Mosetlha of Sefhare red cross stimulation centre said the tournament was an annual event hosted in different places in the region.

Mosetlha indicated that they were expecting 11 schools in the region to compete in the games.

Mosetlha said the games targeted the learners with learning difficulties aged 10 years and above.

She said the main objective of the games was to unearth and showcase talents in people living with disabilities.

The tournament, she said, would be categorised into 50m, 100m and 200m walk, 3km marathon, track events, football, netball and standing jump.

Mosetlha further said that there would be some medals for those who qualified for the national level, adding that each participant would be awarded a certificate.

Mosetlha encouraged residents of Sefhare/Ramokgonami constituency to support them by coming to witness the games in large numbers. Ends
