BTTA recruits new members

The Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Shaw Kgathi on May 18 joined the Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) publicity event dubbed Skipper Mawillies Taking BTTA to the People.
The minister had gone to Game City on private business when he came across the event and he joined table tennis players. The main purpose of the event was to create awareness about the importance of participating in sports especially table tennis, show case the sport and players, increase the association’s membership, especially in men and the younger generation.
Through the event, the association also intended to spend time with the community and network with potential sponsors for community social responsibility events. Minister Kgathi assured the association of support by his ministry in the development of table tennis.
BTTA publicity secretary, Lelentle Mokhupuki said in an interview that the event was successful as they managed to attract new members and potential sponsors. However, she did not divulge the names of the sponsors saying it was too early to reveal that.
Mokhupuki said if things go as planned, they would be in Molepolole sometime during the week to donate. She said BTTA was determined to live to its vision of being the fastest growing sport in Botswana available to everyone for health, leisure and excellence at the highest level of competition. ENDS
