Selebi Phikwe teachers to benefit from ESP

Mayor of Selebi Phikwe, Mr Amogelang Mojuta, says backlog of projects such as construction of teachers’ houses in the mining town will be addressed through the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP).
Addressing the Selebi Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) full council meeting recently, the mayor said through the ESP, 46 teachers houses would be constructed in the mining town. He said in the 2016/2017 financial year, 20 staff houses, 16 toilets and four classrooms will be constructed through the programme while in the 2017/2018 financial year, 12 staff houses, 32 toilets and 6 classrooms will be built.
He went on to explain that in order to accelerate the implementation of ESP projects, the ministry reviewed and waived the procurement processes in order to shorten the time taken to engage contractors. He said expressions of interest were advertised for all the council and closed on 22nd February 2016. He said the construction of two toilet blocks and double classroom block at Lapologang Primary School as well as the electrical works of the project has been awarded to Bodibeng Building Construction at a cost of over P2 million.
He said Earth Inflight for Buildings was awarded the job to do the electrical works at a tune of P147 718 adding that 13 companies showed interest in the project. Mr Mojuta went on to state that regarding the construction of a double classroom block as well as electrical works at Boswelakgomo Primary School, 50 and 12 companies expressed their interest respectively for the construction and electrical works respectively.
The mayor indicated that the project to construct a toilet block at Boswelakgomo Primary School including the electrical works has been awarded to Middle Enterprises at a tune of P617 029.
Construction of eight teachers houses as well as electrical works, 11 and seven companies respectively expressed their interest for the construction part and seven showed in the electrical works respectively. Ends
